Nigel Forster, Photography Workshop and Course Tutor
About Me and Creative Photography Experience
Hi, I’m Nigel Forster. Thanks for visiting my website. I hope you will enjoy looking at my images but I thought you might also be interested in hearing a bit more about me and of Creative Photography Experience.
I’ve lived in Wales for over 25 years, firstly in Cardiff and in the Brecon Beacons since 2002. I’m originally from from Warwickshire and lived in London while at college and during early working years. I have always had a passion for the outdoors; the mountains in particular, travel and for landscape photography. I used to earn a living firstly as a Landscape Architect and subsequently as the Director of an Environmental and Community Regeneration Charity in South Wales.
On reaching my 50th birthday I decided it was time for a career change (otherwise known as a mid-life crisis!). Rather naively I thought I’d make a living out of climbing mountains and taking pictures………….if only making a living out of photography was so simple! My previous experience was all with film photography so I had something of a learning curve with photoshop!
So, a year after doing little else but taking pictures, in 2009 I set up Creative Photography Wales with a view to combining photography with some aspects of my previous professional experience. I’ve been teaching photography since 2010 and have recently rebranded my business as Creative Photography Experience (so apologies if you see some slightly confused branding as I change things over!).
I initially developed my portfolio within the Brecon Beacons, and subsequently Pembrokeshire but have since diversified into other areas such as the North of England and Scotland and now know many of these areas well enough to teach and take clients to my favourite locations.
In addition to the training you can see on this website, I am a commercial photographer and have been fortunate enough to work on some amazing projects. Some of them can be found on my Commercial Website.
I am also a Master Photographer with the Photographer Academy so have produced a range of training videos and on-line webinars. If you follow the link you can see my work with the Photographer Academy
You can find out more about my commercial work from the COMMISSION ME link below.
Thanks for reading and for visiting my website. Click on the CONTACT ME link at any time.

What My Customers Say
“I was lucky enough to spend a day with Nigel taking photographs in the Talybont area. Nigel addressed a number of my learning needs during the course. Nigel is easy to get on with. Highly recommended.”
– Fran from Pontypool
“Nigel, besides being a very good (landscape) photographer, is a very friendly and patience person who enjoys talking and explaining about photography. So if you’re looking for a opportunity to bring your photography to a higher level with a skillful teacher in a relaxed and informal environment, Nigel is the person you’re looking for.”
– Harry A from The Netherlands
“Nigel was friendly and approachable and made me feel very at ease from the onset, he explained things clearly and really encouraged me to think outside the box. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would recommend it to anyone wishing to learn or refresh. The day consisted of theory and practical and the three locations Nigel took me to were easy to reach. Many thanks to Nigel for his time and patience…”

Group Photography Training
Photography Workshops for groups
We run both Day Workshops and 2/3 day Short Breaks both for beginners and those with more experience. Beginners courses assume no previous knowledge: all you need is a DSLR or Bridge Camera and a willingness to learn. Intermediate/Expert courses assume some previous knowledge and experience and you'll normally have some additional equipment such as a tripod.
We don't just photograph landscapes - we cover cityscapes, heritage, wildlife, people...and whatever else is around!
"Nigel is an excellent and extremely knowledgeable tutor who is able to tailor his training to the assembled group. Despite adverse weather conditions and a wide range of abilities and experience on my course, Nigel delivered value for money for every single person whilst keeping the day enjoyable. I would recommend Creative Photography Wales to anyone, whatever their level of photography"
