Night photography is also included in all our Weekend and Short Break Workshops but is not the main theme of the workshop

Seasonal and Flower Workshops
These are held in South and Mid Wales and timed to coincide with the amazing displays of colour we often experience, either growing naturally or planted!
In 2019 I’ve held 3 workshops at the Sunglowers on Gower peninsula – more of those in 2020! Others (such as Poppies and OSR (Oil Seed Rape) will also be added next year, either as stand alone workshops, or as events within Weekend or Short Break Workshops.
Dedicated Workshops are:
- Gower Sunflowers Workshop (end July / Early August)
- Gower Poppies and Lupins Workshop (June / Early July)
- Brecon Beacons Bluebells and OSR workshop (April / early May)
Themed elements to longer workshops
- Brecon Beacons 3 day Spring and Autumn workshops

Time Lapse Photography Workshops
Time Lapse has become increasingly popular and creates a short video that effectively speeds up motion.
I run a couple of dedicated workshops a year in the Brecon Beacons.
However, all Short Break Workshops also have time available for you to try Time Lapse Photography and guidance can be given if needed.

Battersea Power Station on the Thames in London. Taken from Victoria Station and a great location for Time Lapse Photography!
Wild Camping and Mountain Photography Workshops
A workshop espeically for the mountain and camping enthusiast only. You’ll need experience in the mountains, a good level of fitness to get to locations (except for the Elan Valley) and lightweight camping equipment (though this is available if needed0
We go up to the mountains to catch evening light, pitch camp and stay for the night sky and dawn light.
The following areas are covered in our Wild Camping Workshops
- Brecon Beacons Mountains Wild Camping Workshop: Involves mountain climbs
- Elan Valley Wild Camping and Night Sky Workshop: This does not need fitness as locations are accessible
- Snowdonia Mountain Workshop: Involves significant climbing and camping at high level in exposed locations

Wild Camping at Llyn y fan Fach in the Brecon Beacons. A stunning and atmospheric location in the west of the National Park and a great wild camping spot!

Architectural and Cityscape Photography
Architecture is a key part of our London, Cardiff and Northumberland / Newcastle workshops. We look at contemporary and historic architecture in it’s setting, and coiver both exterior and interior photography. A few things to point out as follows:
- London – With our London workshops, the itinerary is amended to suit the weather. However both weekend days include exterior and interior photography with a strong emphaisi on contemporary architectural design.
- Cardiff – these are dedicated architectural photography days with a focus on outdoor photography
- Newcastle – this is the Sunday of our 4 Day Northumberland and Newcastle photography September workshop. There is a strong emphasis on architectural composition

Leadenhall Development in the City of London in London, UK. Dramatic architectural compositions at this great location on our London workshops
Long Exposure and Filter Workshops
Long Exposure photography is increasingly popular. It’s defined as a technique which results in movement of some or all of the features in the scene, such as clouds, water or light trails.
These workshops are aimed at developing your technical and creative skills and helping you to produce some amaxing results!
Many of our workshops include or are themed around Long Exposure Photography:
- London, Cardiff and other City Workshops include Long Exposure as a key element
- All Short Break Workshops in Isle of Skye, Snowdonia and Northumberland includes significant dedicated time to LE Photography
- Brecon Beacons 3 Day Spring and Autumn Workshops include time for LE Photography
- Many Day Workshops provide an opportunity to try LE Photography; however it is not the emphasis of the workshop

Kilmuir Church is a ruin located at the very north of the island at a remote location north of Uig. Skye, Scottish Islands, Scotland UK. A perfect LE location!
Waterfalls and Woodlands Workshops
Many of my favourite locations include superb waterfalls set in wooded locations. These are perfect for flat light and wet (though perhaps not too wet!) days. The following workshops have waterfalls as a key element of the workshop or have days dedicated specifically to waterfalls and woodlands.
- Brecon Beacons Landscape Day Workshops
- Brecon Beacons 3 Day Spring and Autumn Workshop
- Snowdonia Short Break workshop (November)

Blaen y Glyn Waterfalls in the heart of the Brecon Beacons. One of my regular locations for tuition – always beautiful and 5 miles from my studio!
Heritage and Industrial Workshops
Many of my favourite locations are rich in architectural and industrial heritage. The South Wales Valleys is a perfect example of somewhere that has undergone change from traditonal industry, but which has left a striking legacy.
I run workshops dedicated to exploring these areas and many others include significant time in looking and historic buildings, monuments and features::
- South Wales Valleys Heritage Workshop
- Port Talbot and Rhondda Valley Heritage Workshop
- Snowdonia Workshop (Blaenau Ffestiniog and the Slate Mines)
